The Tribal Chief stops playing nice

Remember when Roman Reigns took 2025 off from trophy chasing? It was a weird, low-stakes year that felt like watching a lion sleep in a petting zoo. While the guy is clearly a titan, coasting without a belt felt like a waste of the most dominant character in professional wrestling history.

We finally have confirmation via PWInsider reporting that Reigns is set for Saturday Night's Main Event. The man is moving, and the internal machinery at WWE is finally kicking into gear. Staring at his recent highlight reel makes it obvious how much he missed the gold.

NXT is showing everyone how to build a card

While the main roster sorts its top-tier talent, the developmental side is running laps around them. The July 7 episode of NXT was a masterclass in staging high-stakes competition with those two four-way matches. Getting talent ready for contention through chaotic multi-man bouts is a classic booking strategy that still hits harder than a generic singles match.

Kendal Grey currently holds the NXT Women's Championship, and the division feels like it actually has a pulse. Unlike the main roster's often sluggish build-ups, NXT keeps its current feuds hot. The Drake-Heights program is a prime example of putting two hungry acts together to see who survives.

The booking flaws are still glaring

Look, I love the aggression, but let’s be real about the creative direction. Having your top star skip title matches for an entire year is essentially booking malpractice. It robs the audience of the chase and leaves the top of the card feeling stale.

Reigns needs a clear, defined antagonist if he wants to regain his status as the center of the universe. The Tribal Combat match with Solo was a fun spectacle, but it was a side quest. A real champion needs a real target. We are now sitting at a 365-day gap of meaningful title pursuit from the former champ, and that is a massive window of opportunity they let slide.

If the plan for Saturday Night's Main Event is just another retread of the Bloodline drama, the crowd will grow restless. People want to see the hierarchy shaken up. I want to see a clean slate and a belt around a waist that actually wants to defend it on every premium show.

They have the talent, and they have the history, but the execution needs a massive injection of urgency. They cannot afford another year of pacing around the ring while the rest of the show passes them by. Keep your eyes on who Reigns steps to next, because it defines the rest of the year.
