The physical toll of a Khali comeback

The Great Khali recently expressed a desire to return to WWE for a world title run and a marquee match against Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. While the nostalgia factor exists, the reality of his physical condition remains a significant barrier to any in-ring return.

Khali has dealt with chronic knee and back issues stemming from his massive frame and years of professional wrestling. These injuries are long-term, and his last notable appearance in 2017 highlighted a lack of mobility that would make a modern, fast-paced WWE match dangerous for both him and his opponent.

Impact on roster planning

Management has not signaled any interest in a formal return, and for good reason. The current product relies on high-intensity sequences that Khali simply cannot execute without risking further injury to his lower extremities.

Booking a legend for a title run when they are physically compromised is a mistake WWE has made before, often to the detriment of the current roster. As Wrestling Inc reported, his ambitions are clear, but the medical reality is that he is effectively retired from active competition. Any attempt to put him back in the ring would likely result in a long-term injury setback rather than a successful title program.
