Tony Khan and AEW criticism
That term was thrown around a lot at Tony Khan for the first couple years at AEW. I don't think you necessarily hear that so much anymore because I think even the harshest AEW critic kind of has to recognize reality as far as the business they've done at this point.
Swerve Strickland and Kenny Omega
I was walking with Swerve in the airport afterwards, and I was terrified. I think I'm also the crazy Kenny Omega fan. So I was just hoping we weren't attacked for his heinous actions.
AEW business success
Between starting up the company, forging relationships with Warner Brothers, all the TV deals, and selling out Wembley Stadium and the Grand Slam shows, you can't just do that with just money. You need connections, you need fan interest, you need the right wrestlers and the right booking.
Wrestling promotion business model
There has to be an acknowledgement that if anyone wants to start a promotion nowadays, they have to be somebody that kind of has a lot going on. Anybody that wants to start a promotion now has to essentially be a billionaire.
ZZ Top and Houston rap connection
ZZ Top were at this recording studio in Houston at the same time as all these Houston rappers. They were all hanging out with each other at the studio, talking about music. And Billy Gibbons heard them doing '25 Lighters' and it just stuck with him.
Kenny Omega's injury/TV status
It's kind of become just comical how often he's been beaten up and written off TV the past few years. Like he's getting choked out with a chain, he's getting put through tables and stabbed with a pen.
Tony Khan's wrestling fandom
I think in a lot of ways a lot of hardcores kind of saw Tony Khan as one of us. This could have been not the case, let's say he was, 'Oh, I loved the Jerry Springer style aspect of wrestling.' This could be an entirely different thing.
Rick Ross AEW appearance
The last time I saw Rick Ross, he was calling Keith Lee a big motherfucker on Dynamite, which by the way has the same initials as 'Blowing Money Fast'—BMF. It all comes together there.
Lex Luger (producer) influence
I actually have his contacts [Lex Luger the producer]. I got hooked up with him not too long ago. He just created an entire genre that everybody stole from or not stole, I would say, but it influenced a lot.
Definition of a 'Money Mark'
A money mark is someone who has a whole bunch of money and they want to spend it putting on a wrestling show or starting a promotion because they want to be around the boys. They want to be one of the wrestlers and be a big shot in the wrestling business.
