WWE King of the Ring 2026
All hail the King. The King of the Ring tournament has been the springboard for some of WWE's greatest champions — from Stone Cold to Brock Lesnar to Sheamus. In 2026, a new king will be crowned.
Legendary KOTR Winners
Stone Cold Steve Austin — "You just won King of the Ring... Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass!"
The most famous KOTR speech ever. Stone Cold's coronation speech launched the most successful character in WWE history. The Attitude Era began right here.
Ken Shamrock — The World's Most Dangerous Man
Shamrock's MMA credibility gave the KOTR legitimacy — his submission-based fighting style was a preview of what would become mainstream decades later.
Brock Lesnar — The Beast Incarnate's Rise
Just months into his WWE career, Lesnar's KOTR win signalled the arrival of a generational talent. He won the WWE Championship shortly after.
Gunther — The Ring General Reigns Supreme
Gunther's dominant KOTR victory in 2024 built the foundation for his eventual world championship win — cementing his status as WWE's top European star.
How King of the Ring Works
Tournament Format
Single-elimination bracket — typically 8 or 16 competitors. Winners advance through quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final to claim the crown.
The Prize
The winner receives a crown, scepter, and the regal "King" title. More importantly, a KOTR win historically accelerates the winner's push to the main event.
Broadcast Home
Qualifying matches air on Raw and SmackDown over several weeks, with the final contested at a premium live event — often giving the winner a major WrestleMania ramp-up.
Queen's Crown
WWE also hosts a Queen of the Ring tournament for women — mirroring the KOTR format to give women's division stars an equal prestige boost.
