The Gimmick That Should Not Work (But Does)
A man who keeps his hands in his pockets, delivers the weakest kicks in wrestling history with a straight face, and wears sunglasses indoors at all times should not get over. Orange Cassidy got over anyway — massively. The character works because Aren Malec is exceptional at timing, crowd reading, and knowing exactly when to flip the switch from lazy to lethal.

The AEW International Championship became Orange Cassidy's title. His reigns redefined the belt, turning it into a mid-card centrepiece that produced genuine banger matches. Best-of-five series with Jon Moxley. Title defences against MJF. Programmes with Samoa Joe. The International Championship era of Orange Cassidy gave AEW some of its most consistently good television.
