Pull Up a Barstool
Pull up a barstool and pour yourself a double of whatever cheap whiskey is on the bottom shelf. We are sitting here on June 30, 2026, and the pro wrestling industry is running on pure, unadulterated adrenaline. If you aren't currently scratching your head over the latest social media rants from WWE Raw, you might want to check your pulse.
Ethan Page has officially lost his mind, and I am absolutely here for it. Following a tough loss on last night’s episode of Raw, the man took to Twitter to declare war on the entire masked community. In a post that has the internet wrestling community in a complete chokehold, Page made his feelings quite clear.
“Yet to meet a luchador who isn’t a coward. You know where to find me. #WWERaw”
But the text wasn't even the best part. The post included a video of a completely furious Page screaming at a backstage interviewer. He was yelling about how he refuses to hide his face in shame.
“Great. Now you want to put a camera in my face. Perfect time. Perfect time, and let me make one point very clear. No matter the outcome tonight, one thing I will not do is hide my face in shame. This is the face that got me here and this is the face that’s gonna bring me to the top. You coward luchador bums. This is far from over, and so is my quest for gold. I’m just getting started.”
It is loud, it is aggressive, and it is exactly what WWE's mid-card needs right now. Page has been stewing in this anger for weeks. His rage has been obvious for weeks, as WrestleTalk reported.
His beef with the high-flyers goes back to May, when he took a loss to Penta on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. That match was a wild sprint, but Penta caught him to seal the win. Instead of taking the loss quietly, Page doubled down.
He declared that the Intercontinental Championship finally got the spotlight it deserved. He has been targeting Penta and that belt ever since. Winning it would mark his first main roster title.
But the road to gold is blocked by a wall of colorful masks. Last night, it was Rey Mysterio who shut him down on Raw.
Mysterio used a springboard wheelbarrow bulldog and a 619 to put Page away. Losing to a legend like Mysterio is nothing to be ashamed of, but it certainly doesn't help Page's claims of dominance.
The Internet Fight: Masterclass or Mid-Card Madness?
Naturally, the wrestling forums are in a state of absolute chaos. Over on the SquaredCircle subreddit, the reactions are split right down the middle. Fans are debating whether this is a stroke of genius or just another mid-card feud that will go nowhere.
A large segment of the fanbase thinks Page is doing the best character work of his life. They argue that his mic skills are unmatched in the mid-card right now. They believe he is the only heel on Raw who makes them root for the babyface.
These supporters believe that the chemistry between Page and Penta is undeniable. They point to the May 4, 2026 episode of Raw, where Page teamed with Rusev to beat Je’Von Evans and Penta. It showed his high in-ring IQ alongside Rusev.
But then you have the skeptics, and they have some very loud arguments. They point to the fact that Page is talking a massive game but has zero big wins to back it up. A popular sentiment on wrestling message boards is that Page is being booked as a loudmouth who cannot win without Rusev holding his hand.
The skeptics are quick to bring up the Saturday Night's Main Event match in May. They note that when Page had to go one-on-one with Penta, he folded like a cheap tent. His loss to Mysterio last night makes him look like a loudmouth who can't back up his claims.
Then we have the contrarians who think the entire feud is just a recycled AEW storyline. They point out that Penta and Page have a long history together, even if they didn't have many singles matches in Jacksonville. They note that the two shared the ring at the March 2021 Revolution event in the TNT Championship Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.
The contrarians also remember the June 7, 2023 episode of Rampage, where Page teamed with Lee Moriarty and Big Bill in a losing effort against Bandido and the Lucha Brothers. To these fans, WWE is just milking a pre-existing dynamic because they lack original ideas for the mid-card.
Here is a quick summary of the three main camps in this online war:
- The Enthusiasts, who love Page's mic work and want to see him run with the Intercontinental Championship.
- The Skeptics, who point out his terrible win-loss record and feel he is being booked as a loser.
- The Contrarians, who complain that WWE is just re-running old AEW mid-card feuds with shinier production.
Why the Ego Has a Point
So, who has the stronger argument here? I have to side with the enthusiasts on this one, even if WWE's booking team is doing Page no favors. Yes, the losses are a problem.
You cannot build a credible title challenger if he loses to Rey Mysterio on Raw and Penta on Saturday Night's Main Event in the span of a few weeks. That is basic booking math. It makes Page look like a fraud rather than a dangerous threat.
But wrestling is about drama and character, and Page is delivering both in spades. His raw intensity in that backstage promo was real. He isn't just playing a character; he is wrestling for his spot.
Compare his run to Chad Gable's recent storyline. Gable had to go through the embarrassing El Grande Americano gimmick, getting unmasked before finally returning to his babyface turn. Gable even brought back his original American Alpha entrance theme.
We also saw how well this feud worked on the road. During the recent European Summer Tour, Chad Gable teamed with Penta to beat Page and Rusev. That was the only tag team match of the tour for these teams, and it got rave reviews from the crowd.
Page has the tools to be a great champion. He has the look, the microphone skills, and the in-ring psychology. If he can get just one decisive singles win, his path to Penta's Intercontinental Championship will be clear.
He has already declared his intentions, and now he just needs the booking to match his ambition. The Intercontinental title needs this kind of heat. Lately, mid-card titles have been passed around with zero storyline.
Page's hatred of luchadors gives WWE a simple, effective story that can run for months. It is a classic wrestling formula: the arrogant heel versus the beloved high-flying babyface. It worked for Shawn Michaels and Edge, and it can work for Ethan Page.
He just needs the booking team to stop cutting his legs out from under him. Let's see if Page can turn his words into action. We know we will be watching.
