Injury history
I wrestled for quite a long time with a broken back undiagnosed. While doing that, I like broke my hand in the middle of it.
Injury diagnosis
On the flight over [to London] is when I got a call from my new doctor where she said, 'Oh, we just looked at a CAT scan of your hip and I can see off in the corner that you broke your back.'
AEW career
I owe so much to Jericho. I don't think I would have got my full-time job at AEW because of him just selecting me to be one of his opponents.
Working through injuries
I would lay on an ice pack up until my music was playing, like, every show. And I would tell a lot of the guys that I was working with that I was limited.
ROH World Championship
It was a mixed feeling being Ring of Honor World Champ because it felt like my career is skyrocketing forward while also coming to a crashing end because my body was in so much pain.
Contract negotiations
I think I was also negotiating at one point, so that was hard to focus on. I just got to get through this until I sign the new deal, and then I can take some time off.
WCW final days
I think if Eric Bischoff continued and they continue to want us, we may have been able to pull it up, pull up the bootstrap, so to speak.
AEW storylines
I'm obviously the mentor of the group [with the Outrunners], but my God, they're full of energy. I feel like we are on the same wavelength and we're starting to click.
Career transition
I signed my Ring of Honor contract on a Sunday and was fired from radio on Monday.
Career reflection
I was noticing the video open of the show and I was thinking about, wow, that's two of my most favorite moments: being kissed by Jimmy Valiant and being hit in the face with a pie by Bozo the clown.
