WWE RAW ON NETFLIX 2026
The biggest show in wrestling history moved to the world's biggest streaming platform. One year in — what has changed, what has worked, and what comes next?
Raw's Move to Netflix: What It Means
The announcement that WWE Monday Night Raw would move exclusively to Netflix starting in January 2025 sent shockwaves through the sports entertainment industry. For the first time in its 30-plus year history, Raw — the longest-running episodic programme in American television history — would not air on traditional broadcast or cable television in the United States. The deal, reported to be worth approximately five billion dollars over ten years, represented the most significant media rights agreement in pro wrestling history and a bold bet by Netflix that live sports and events could anchor its platform.
By 2026, the first full year of the Netflix era was complete, and the wrestling world could begin to take stock. The initial episodes attracted enormous attention — Netflix's global subscriber base of over 300 million meant that Raw was now theoretically available to audiences in markets where wrestling had never had meaningful reach. Countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America that had watched via illegal streams or regional broadcasters suddenly had first-class access, and WWE's international house show markets began to reflect this new awareness.
The production changes were visible from the first episode. With Netflix's resources and its culture of premium presentation, the Raw set received a significant overhaul. Production values increased noticeably — lighting rigs, screen technology, and broadcast camera packages all received upgrades. Commentary felt crisper, backstage segments were shot with more cinematic intent, and the pacing of shows shifted to account for an audience watching on-demand rather than live through a cable provider.

Year One on Netflix: The Verdict
Assessing the Raw Netflix experiment after one full year requires separating the hype from the reality. On the positive side, the global audience numbers were genuinely impressive. Nielsen and third-party streaming analytics suggested that Raw's average viewership on Netflix comfortably exceeded its final years on USA Network once international viewers were factored in — though direct comparisons are complicated by different measurement methodologies and the absence of a single unified ratings figure.
Talent reception to the Netflix move was broadly positive, particularly among younger members of the roster who had grown up watching Netflix content and understood its cultural footprint. The platform's recommendation algorithm brought Raw to new viewers who had never previously engaged with wrestling — casual sports fans who saw a three-hour live event on their home screen and clicked through out of curiosity. Converting those viewers to regular audience members became WWE's primary challenge during year one, and the creative team adjusted storylines accordingly to ensure new-viewer-friendly entry points throughout the year.
The challenges were real too. Live sports on streaming remains a technically complex proposition — buffering complaints and regional blackout confusion frustrated some long-time fans during major episodes. WWE and Netflix invested heavily in CDN infrastructure improvements over the course of the year to address this. The three-hour live format also required Netflix's platform to handle viewer drop-in and drop-out patterns very different from their typical on-demand content, and show structure evolved to accommodate shorter, more self-contained segments that rewarded dip-in viewing.
