New podcast announcement
I'm creating a podcast called Not Sam Wrestling Catch-up where every day it'll be a new show but it'll be just an eight-minute wrestling podcast. Headlines, results, tiny little bit of insight, boom, that's it on a separate feed.
Big Show interview tease
I've got at least three interviews lined up [at Squared Circle Expo]. There's some people that you haven't seen on shows in a long time. I was going to say Big Show. He's such a great guy.
Podcast strategy
In 2023, I leaned all the way into wrestling and that was my best month ever for the show and then the next month was my best month ever and then the next month after that and I was like okay, I'm a wrestling guy, this is a wrestling show.
Interview ethics
I've had some times where someone has reached out. It's only happened rarely, but someone's been like, 'Hey, could I watch that back before it goes out?' I'm not a journalist. I'm a talk show host. I think it's an important distinction.
Podcast expansion
I'm going to start doing another podcast as if you didn't have enough jobs. I didn't. I'm running low. I got too much time on my hands.
Backstage/Interview process
I've had conversations with people where I'll hit them up later and go, 'Hey, just so you know, I'm taking this out because it's not going to make either one of us look good.'
Insight podcast origin
I had no intention of making this a wrestling podcast. I wanted it to be a show where I interviewed people that I was interested in, whether they were wrestlers or actors or comedians or entrepreneurs.
Sam Roberts career origin
I remember that I was working for a radio show at the time. One of the wrestlers came in that day and was with a WWE PR guy named Joe Villa. And he brought him in. He did the show and everything. And I was, like, working on the radio show, but I was, like, very public about my wrestling fandom.
Wrestling fandom
I'm a bigger wrestling fan now than I've ever been.
