Christian Cage at AEW Dynasty 2026
The Patriarch of The Patriarchy faces his former best friend Cope. One man walks away. The other gets ended.
Who Is Christian Cage?
Christian Cage (real name William Jason Reso) is one of the most decorated heels in professional wrestling history. A former WWE Tag Team Champion (6x) alongside his best friend Edge, Christian reinvented himself in AEW as the conniving, cowardly patriarch of The Patriarchy — one of the most effective villainous stables in recent memory.
Despite standing just 6'1" and never being built as a physical monster, Christian has always succeeded by being the smartest man in the room — manipulating referees, using his faction as a shield, and exploiting weaknesses with surgical precision. In AEW, that intelligence became his defining trait as a heel.
Edge & Christian — From Brothers to Bitter Rivals
Both from Toronto suburbs, bonded instantly over shared obsession with wrestling. Became inseparable training partners.
7x Tag Team Champions, invented the ladder match artform, defined an era of sports entertainment with their comedy and athleticism.
After Edge re-signs with WWE, Christian goes to AEW alone. The brothers take separate paths for the first time in their careers.
Debuts Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne as muscle. Builds most effective heel stable in AEW. Wins TNT title with maximum chicanery.
Adam Copeland (now Cope) signs with AEW expecting his old friend. Christian, deep in villain mode, refuses to acknowledge the bond. First real crack forms.
Series of escalating attacks, broken promises and emotional betrayals culminates in AEW management booking the career-defining match at Dynasty.
The Patriarchy — Dynasty's Wild Card
Christian never fights alone. The Patriarchy is more than a stable — it's an insurance policy. At Dynasty, the group's involvement could determine everything.
Mastermind. Rarely takes damage when he can redirect it. His plan at Dynasty will involve multiple contingencies.
Athletic high-flyer who worships Christian. Will throw himself into harm's way. Wildcard interference threat throughout the match.
7-foot monster with dinosaur gimmick. Banned from ringside? He's been banned before. It's never stopped him.
3 Ways Christian Wins at Dynasty
If Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne are not kept out, Christian simply orchestrates a 3-on-1 beatdown when the referee is distracted. He's done it dozens of times — why change what works?
Cope's career has been defined by chronic neck and spinal issues. Christian knows this better than anyone — he was there when the original injury happened. Targeting the neck is his most likely strategy.
Christian may manufacture a moment of hesitation from Cope — a fake handshake, an emotional callback to their friendship. One second of doubt is all he needs to hit the Killswitch.
Match Prediction
This is the culmination of one of AEW's most personal rivalries. The crowd WANTS Cope to get his revenge. That emotional investment means AEW will deliver on it.
Luchasaurus gets ejected early. Nick Wayne causes chaos mid-match. Cope still finds a way, hits the spear after countering the Killswitch. Christian gets his career moment ended in the most satisfying way possible.
